Fremont man indicted in Bergman Orchards burglary

A Fremont man has been indicted on charges of stealing cash and checks from Bergman Orchards Farm Market in late June.

Jonathan A. Buchanan, 20, of the 2000 block of Hayes Ave., Fremont, is accused of entering the Ohio 269 location and taking cash and checks from the register June 23.

Buchanan was arrested without incident on July 9 by an Ottawa County Drug Task Force agent, according to a press release from Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Mulligan.

The 20-year-old is being held without bond at Ottawa County Detention Facility on charges of breaking and entering, theft and theft of checks, all fifth-degree felonies.

He was also indicted on two unrelated counts of trafficking in drugs, alleging that he sold heroin to a confidential informant on two occasions in April.

Buchanan is scheduled to be arraigned in Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas later this week, according to the release.
