Judge Eyster orders Public Square business closed

Mount Vernon Police Department Detectives and Agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation executed a search warrant Thursday at Waking Dreams Smoke Shop on the Public Square.

The Knox County Prosecutor's Office announced the warrant on their Facebook page. According to the post, "The warrants were the result of an investigation into the sale of synthetic drugs by Waking Dreams. The Prosecutor’s Office filed a civil nuisance complaint based upon the business permitting felony drug offenses to take place on its premises."

An ex parte order was signed by Judge Otho Eyster closing the business until a hearing can be held in the case.

Knox County Sheriff's Office Detectives and agents from the METRICH task force participated in executing two other search warrants associated with the case.

According to their website the shop offers smoking products including pipes, hookahs, vaporizers, E-Cigarettes, grinders and all other smoking accessories.

According to a business LLC filing with the Ohio Secretary of State's office Waking Dreams has been in business since November 2009. The purpose of the business is listed as, "For any purpose or purposes for which individuals may lawfully associate themselves."
