Man arraigned on bank robbery charge in Lawrence County

A bank robbery suspect was arraigned Thursday morning in connection with an incident this week in Ironton.

That robbery happened Tuesday at PNC Bank on 4th Street.

Detectives say Michael Wayne Crager, 38, of Gallipolis, admitted to robbing the PNC Bank, as well as the Westbanco Bank in South Point, Ohio, in June. He said it was to support a drug habit.

Crager was arrested Wednesday night at a home in Ironton.

Bond on the charge involving the PNC Bank robbery was set at $200,000.

Crager will be arraigned Friday morning in Lawrence County Municipal Court in Chesapeake on the charge involving the Westbanco Bank robbery.

Police made an arrest in a bank robbery that happened Tuesday.

Ironton Police and the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, along with the Lawrence County Drug and Major Crime Task Force arrested Michael Wayne Crager, 38, of Gallipolis, at a home in Ironton Wednesday evening.

Detectives say Crager admitted to robbing the PNC Bank in Ironton and he also admitted to robbing the Westbanco bank in South Point back in June. He told investigators he robbed the banks to support a drug habit.

Crager is charged with aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.

He will be arraigned in the Ironton Municipal Court Thursday for the Ironton robbery and in Lawrence County Municipal Court on Friday for the South Point robbery.

He is being held in the Lawrence County Jail.


Ironton Police are looking for a man who they say robbed a bank in Ironton Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at the PNC bank on 4th Street.
