Meth lab on wheels busted

Another drug lab has been discovered in the Salem area. This time is was on wheels.

According to the Perry Township Police, drug paraphernalia was in plain view in a vehicle at 12:54 p.m. Saturday while an officer was speaking to a male and female subject.

Upon searching the vehicle , police located a mobile meth lab in its trunk.

Perry Township Police contacted the Columbiana County Drug Task Force which responded and took control of the scene.

The car was searched in the back section of Salem Acres, located just outside city limits in the 1100 block of Prospect Street.

Residents in adjoining apartments were evacuated due to a chemical hazard. Perry Township firefighters stood by along with the Columbiana County Sheriff's Dept. and Salem Police.

Kyle D. Gray, 23, of 1708 Devonshire Drive, Salem was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chantel M. Shuman, 22, of 36537 Orchard Court, Salem was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments.

They both were ordered to appear at 8:30 a.m. Monday in Columbiana County Municipal Court. According to the Perry Township Police, additional charges are pending.
