METRICH-MARMET reports seizing guns, cocaine, cash

Late Monday afternoon, the METRICH-MARMET drug task force announced a major drug operation conducted four days earlier resulted in the seizure of 413 grams of crack cocaine, $5,596 in cash and two 9 mm handguns.

At 7:18 p.m., a combined force of METRICH-MARMET detectives, sheriff's deputies, police officers and the MPD Special Response Team served a search warrant at 242 N. State St., arresting Tywhon L. Butler, 31, according to a METRICH-MARMET news release. Court records show Butler lives at 348 Pearl St.

Butler was arrested on a charge of aggravated drug trafficking, a first-degree felony. Court records show Butler had 2006 and 2007 convictions for crack cocaine and cocaine possession, respectively.

"This investigation targeted a major crack cocaine trafficker in our county, and we were happy to get him off our streets," Maj. Jay McDonald said. "His arrest has made our community safer."

Court records showed Butler was arraigned Monday but did not list an attorney representing him who could be reached for comment.
