Niles man indicted in overdose death of detective's son

A Trumbull County grand jury has indicted a Niles man in connection to the May 31 overdose death of the son of a police detective.

Mark Thornsberry, 25, of 131 Wilson Ave., was named in a special grand jury report released today.

He is accused of injecting Joshua J. Robbins, 25, with the heroin authorities said killed Robbins, the son of Niles police Detective James Robbins

Joshua Robbins died at his Mineral Ridge home.

The four-count indictment charges Thornsberry with involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another with drugs, tampering with evidence and heroin possession all felonies.

Thornsberry was arrested Oct. 13 by the Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force, which investigated the case.

Thornsberry is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald Rice.
