Police chase ends in crash on Lake Shore Boulevard in Euclid

A drug trafficking confrontation May 5 at Shoregate Shopping Center in Willowick resulted in two transports to the hospital and minor damage to a week-old police SUV.

That city’s police department and The Lake County Narcotics Agency initiated the confrontation around 3:40 p.m. based on information they had previously tracked.

Willowick Police Lt. Brian Turner said three suspects escaped the scene in a Chevrolet Venture and headed west on Lake Shore Blvd.

The suspects’ car struck the car of a female driving east on Lake Shore Boulevard near E. 255th Street in Euclid.

The suspects then fled the car and headed south on that street.

When police attempted to follow the suspects by car, the cruiser went out of control and drove over a curb, into the yard of the corner lot south of Lake Shore Boulevard and west of 255th Street

The suspects were apprehended, but one swallowed the narcotics and was transported to the hospital for related treatment. Turner said.

The female victim was taken to the hospital for injuries, the extent of which were not known by police.

There was property damage to the suspects’ car, the female victim’s car and to the police SUV.

All three were taken by tow trucks for repair.

The suspects, not yet identified by police, will face trafficking charges from The Lake County Narcotics Agency and fleeing and eluding charges from Willowick, Turner said.

Euclid police assisted at the intersection, where traffic was disrupted.
