Traffic stop results in cocaine bust

Suspected cocaine was found in a vehicle after police stopped the driver in the first block of Shaffer Park Drive Saturday morning.

Tiffin Police Department pulled over a vehicle with a driver and three passengers at 12:39 a.m. Saturday at Holiday Inn Express, 78 Shaffer Park Drive, because several occupants were “persons of interest” for an ongoing investigation, a release from Seneca County Drug Task Force — METRICH Enforcement Unit stated.

Seneca County Drug Task Force — METRICH Enforcement Unit assisted in a search of the vehicle and found suspected cocaine on a woman, who faces pending charges of possession of cocaine and possession of criminal tools upon the analysis of the suspected drug, the release stated.

Another passenger, Harold E. Taylor, 35, of Toledo, was arrested under an active warrant out of Wood County for permitting drug abuse.

A search warrant then was executed on a room at Holiday Inn Express, in which the release stated “only marginal evidence” was found.

The name of the woman with pending charges could not be released as the case still is under investigation, a Tiffin Police Department spokesman said.
