Two arrested after Mansfield drug raid

Two people were arrested around 2 p.m. Monday after METRICH and other law enforcement agencies searched the Wood Street apartment complex, 140 Wood St., seizing drugs and money.

Mansfield Police Lt. Joy Stortz, commander of the METRICH drug enforcement task force, said a search warrant was executed in Apartments 314 and 205, based on complaints, starting with an anonymous tip, that drug-related activities had taken place at the complex.

A man and a woman were taken to the Richland County Jail. Their names and charges against the two were not immediately released, but felony-level charges are expected, Stortz said.

Stortz said law enforcement agencies found drugs, money, a gun and drug paraphernalia during the raid.

METRICH, the Mansfield Police Department and its major crimes division, the Allied Special Operations Response Team, and federal marshals participated in the search.
