Two METRICH raids net drugs

The METRICH Enforcement Unit, ASORT and Mansfield Police Department found drugs in two locations Tuesday while executing search warrants.

The raids occurred at 781 Sunset Blvd., Apt. 7, and 441 N. Main St. around noon Tuesday after search warrants were signed by Mansfield Municipal Court Judge Frank Ardis, according to reports from Mansfield Police Department.

METRICH had received numerous complaints about drugs being sold from the Sunset Boulevard apartment and had arrested 26-year-old Brittany Sue Jaynes for drug possession at the Sunset Drive location earlier Tuesday morning.

Jaynes was found to be in possession of 146 Oxycodone Hydrochloride tablets and was taken to the Richland County Jail around 6:30 a.m. Later, when the search warrant was executed, police seized undisclosed evidence and submitted it to the crime lab.

METRICH, ASORT and Mansfield Police Department also searched a business at 441 N. Main St. Police used a K9 to search the business, and the dog indicated on several vehicles and a kitchen cabinet. A bag of 41 grams of marijuana was located under the passenger seat of a vehicle and a bag of 20 grams of suspected heroin was found under the passenger seat of another. A pill bottle containing an unknown substance was found in a cabinet drawer.

METRICH Lt. Joy Stortz said no arrests were made after the searches but the case will be forwarded to the prosecutor's office for charges.
