2 arrested during sting operation

James R. Kiser, 37, was arrested on a warrant for trafficking crack cocaine, and Gavin E.L. Shaw, 23, was arrested on a charge of complicity to trafficking crack cocaine, according to a release from Seneca County Drug Task Force - METRICH Enforcement Unit.

Both charges are fifth-degree felonies.

"We had an arrest warrant for James Kiser," said Detective Chuck Boyer, unit coordinator.

Tiffin Police Department officers assisted with the operation, which yielded money and suspected crack cocaine, the release states.

Additional charges of trafficking crack cocaine, permitting drug abuse and possession of criminal tools are pending on Kiser and Shaw, it states.

The substances have to be tested, Boyer said.

Boyer said Kiser moved to the area in 2014.

Kiser had been convicted of three counts of complicity to trafficking in cocaine, all fifth-degree felonies, in October 2014.

He was sentenced by Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley to 11 months on each count, to be served concurrently to each other, but consecutively to a prior case that involved him being sentenced to 36 months in prison.

He was granted judicial release in March and was placed on three years of community control, Seneca County Common Pleas Court records state.
