3 arrested after active meth lab found in their home by Madison Twp. Police Department

Three people were arrested after Madison Township police and detectives discovered an active methamphetamine lab in their home.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Madison Township Police Department conducted an investigation into heroin and methamphetamine trafficking. The investigation led them to a home in the 5300 block of Southridge Road.

While in the residence, police said they discovered an active meth lab. Three adult suspects were arrested. The Lake County Narcotics Agency was contacted and responded to help in the investigation, as well as oversee the clean-up of the lab.

Charles D. Butts, 43, of Cleveland, Carrie D. Swope, 39, of Madison, and Brandon R. Swope, 21, of Madison, were all arrested, police reported.

According to police, Butts was charged with illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine. Carrie Swope was charged with complicity to manufacture meth and illegal assembly of chemicals to manufacture meth. Brandon Swope was charged with complicity to manufacturing of meth and a warrant for his arrest relating to a separate incident.

Police said additional charges are expected.

The three were arraigned in Painesville Municipal Court on Monday. Butts and Carrie Swope's bonds were set at $75,000, while Brandon Swope's bond was set at $50,000.
