36 pounds of marijuana seized in Perry County

Four men were jailed after authorities reportedly seized 36 pounds of marijuana valued at $45,000 on Tuesday in Perry County.

Their names will not be released until the Perry County Prosecutor's Office formally charges them, though all are facing felony drug possession charges, according to the Perry County Sheriff's Office.

They're being held in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in Nelsonville.

The sheriff's office and agents with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation raided a marijuana growing site on 5094 Township Road 495 on Tuesday.

Authorities reported seeing 15 large marijuana plants on the property. The suspects attempted to destroy the plants as officers converged on them, but were unsuccessful, the sheriff's office said.
