4 arrested as part of 2 search warrants in Marion targeting drug trafficking

On January 13, 2015, detectives from the MARMET Drug Task Force, along with assistance from the Marion Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office, served two search warrants in Marion. The search warrants were issued as a result of numerous complaints of drug activity at each of the locations. The two locations have been problems in the neighborhood for months.

“After many complaints and related issues in these neighborhoods, it was great to solve the problems these two apartments caused,” stated Lt. Chris Adkins.

Just after noon, detectives served a warrant in the 800-block of Windsor Street. Inside the apartment, detectives said they located a small amount of crack cocaine and thousands of dollars in stolen goods.

“Property taken from the apartment was sold or traded to facilitate the drug trafficking. Many detailed complaints about the activity at the apartment helped detectives obtain the search warrant,” stated Lt. Adkins.

Robert Peters, Jr., age 55, of Marion, was arrested for trafficking in crack cocaine and receiving stolen property. Peters was transported to the Multi-County Correctional Center where he waits formal charges from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

The second search warrant was served in the 280-block of Libby Lane just before 6:00pm. Again, officials said this warrant was a result of numerous complaints from neighbors and several months of investigation into suspected drug activity at the apartment. Over these months, officers were called to the apartment for fights, as well as a shooting.

Lt. Adkins said, “The management of the complex worked hand-in-hand with law enforcement to rid of the complex of any illegal activity.”

Detectives located crack cocaine and a stolen firearm inside the apartment. The following suspects were arrested at this location:

■Nicollette Stover, age 21, of Marion. Stover was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and child endangerment.
■Ortavious Hood, age 19, of Marion. Hood was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and receiving stolen property.

■Darius Thompson, age 23, of Marion. Thompson was arrested on a felony warrant for possession of drugs as well as a new charge of possession of crack cocaine.
All three were taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center to await formal charges.
