6 month investigation involving marijuana distribution into northwest Ohio

The Multi-Area Narcotics Task Force concluded a 6 month investigation involving Marijuana Distribution into Northwest Ohio.

In the morning hours of March 6th, 2017 agents from the Multi-Area Narcotics Task Force, Deputies from Defiance County Sheriff’s Office and Officers from Defiance Police Department arrested Isidro Tovar, age 33, of Gibsonton, Florida and Gilbert Garcia, age 58, of Grand Prairie, Texas, on Hotel Drive in the City of Defiance, for trafficking in Marijuana a Felony of the third degree.

During the six month investigation, on two different occasions the Multi-Area Narcotics Task Force agents purchased a total of 36 pounds of Marijuana. Along with the Marijuana $40,000.00 of United States Currency was seized.

A case file was presented to the Defiance County Prosecutor, Morris Murray’s office for presentation of charges related to this case along with other charges stemming from the undercover operation. Authorities believe additional charges will be presented to Defiance County Grand Jury.

Assisting the MAN Unit was the DEA, Toledo Division, Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, Defiance County Prosecutor’s Office and the Defiance City Police Department.

Mr. Tovar and Mr. Garcia are being held at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio and will appear in Defiance Municipal Court, on March 8th 2017.
