Butler County Sheriff’s BURN Taskforce Raids Middletown Drug House

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics (BURN) taskforce along with the Butler County Regional SWAT team raided a Middletown residence in the pre-dawn hours of March 26, 2015. The residence, located at 704 Elwood Street, was part of a lengthy methamphetamine drug investigation carried out by the BURN taskforce.

During the raid, BURN agents arrested Michael Chappel, age 41, and seized approximately 2 ounces of “Ice” methamphetamine, 2 handguns, marijuana, a motor vehicle, over $3,000.00, and drug paraphernalia. Chappel was charged with Trafficking in Drugs, a felony 2, and Possession of Drugs, a felony 2. BURN agents will be requesting additional charges on Chappel at Grand Jury.

“Our BURN taskforce agents have worked long and hard hours on this investigation and others like it” said Sheriff Jones. “Drugs affect too many of our citizens and we need to work together to remove them from our streets”.

Sheriff Jones credits citizen tips, along with the hard work of BURN agents, for the success of the investigation.

Michael Chappel was charged through Middletown Municipal Court and is currently housed at the Middletown City Jail.
