Cocaine heroin seized 2 arrested in city

A late-afternoon drug bust on the eastern edge of the city netted two arrests, drugs and cash.

At around 5:30 p.m. Monday, MARMET detectives, assisted by Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Marion Police Department officers, executed a search warrant in 1900 block of Marion Mount Gilead Road.

Approximately 43 grams of crack cocaine and 25 grams of heroin were located, removing about $9,300 in drugs from the streets of Marion County, according to a the MPD’s Facebook post. Also seized was $537 in cash.

Arrested were Ian L. Conley, 43, of Columbus, and William A. McDuffie, 31, of Marion. Both men are charged with felony drug crimes and are in the Multi-County Jail awaiting formal charges from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

“Drug overdoses kill more people in Ohio than traffic crashes and we know, at least, these drugs will not kill anyone in our community,” said Maj. Jay McDonald of the MARMET Drug Task Force.

“MARMET will continue to work in partnership with the community to take these dangerous drugs off our streets,” McDonald said.
