Columbus men lodged on drug charges

Two Columbus men were arrested on drug charges after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department and the Logan County Joint Drug Task Force investigated a report of suspicious activity in the 400 block of Spring Avenue around 8 a.m. Thursday.

Marcus Q. Tabler, 30, was charged with possession of drugs and permitting drug abuse and was cited for driving without a license, while Matthew J. Williams, 23, was charged with possession of crack cocaine and trafficking in crack cocaine.

The task force has been investigating the pair and responded when officers detained the men while investigating residents’ complaints of a man wearing a hooded jacket running between houses.

They were in a sport utility vehicle.

Task force detectives recovered eight grams of crack cocaine, $1,730 and two cellular phones from Mr. Williams. A single, prescription pain pill was found on Mr. Tabler. A cellular phone and $827 were seized from him.

Both men have prior arrests in this area.

Both were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
