Florida Man Arrested At Port Columbus; Facing Federal Drug Charges

A Florida man is facing federal drug charges for allegedly selling and distributing synthetic cannabinoids in the Columbus area.

Agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and The Franklin County Drug Task Force arrested 55-year-old Aijaz Zaidi at Port Columbus International Airport at about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Sheriff Zach Scott, the arrest is the result of a two-month investigation into Zaidi, who lives in Florida.

Zaidi is accused of shipping approximately 2,000 packets of Spice, with a street value of approximately $70,000 from Plantation Florida to undercover detectives in Columbus.

Zaidi flew from Florida to Columbus on Tuesday to collect payment for the shipment of Spice, at which time he was arrested.

Zaidi has been charged with trafficking in bath salts, which is a federal offense. He is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail.
