Fostoria raid leads to drug charges

A Fostoria woman is facing drug charges after her residence was raided early Wednesday morning.

Crystal N.E. Dayton, 27, was charged with trafficking heroin, a fourth-degree felony, according to a release from Seneca County Drug Task Force - METRICH Enforcement Unit.

Det. Chuck Boyer, unit coordinator for METRICH, said Dayton was living with her mother and a man from Detroit at 1020 Buckley St.

Boyer said Derrick R. Jones, 26, of Detroit, also was charged with complicity to trafficking in heroin, according to the release.

He said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges might be assessed.

"We're looking more into what Jones' role was," Boyer said. "Dayton was definitely the user."

The release states the search warrant unveiled cash, suspected heroin, prescription pills, criminal tools and evidence of drug trafficking.

"There is an affiliation with Detroit," Boyer said about recent drug raids. "We've seen an influx of people coming from outside of the area and we're still trying to figure out what makes them come here."

The search warrant was signed after a lengthy investigation by METRICH.

"We've been aware of (Dayton) for over a couple months," Boyer said.

Additional charges of trafficking heroin, permitting drug abuse, possession of heroin and possession of criminal tools are pending for Dayton, the release states.

Fostoria Police Department's SWAT and K-9 units were utilized to execute the search warrant, which was signed by Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court Judge Mark Repp.
