Four face corrupt enterprise charges
Four men face corrupt enterprise and drug trafficking charges after indictments were handed up Tuesday by a Logan County grand jury.
Detectives with the Logan County Joint Drug Task Force and the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office allege Marcus A. Hagans, 26, of 1628 Edwards Ave., Springfield, headed up a trafficking ring that was a major source of crack cocaine in Bellefontaine and Logan County.
His alleged accomplices are Terrick D. Ellis, 38, of 838 E. Sandusky Ave., and Gary Doseck, 48, of 1018 Heritage Court.
Mr. Hagans has been charged with one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a second-degree felony; two fifth-degree felony counts of trafficking in drugs; and six fifth-degree felony counts of complicity to trafficking in drugs.
Mr. Ellis faces one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a second-degree felony; and three fifth-degree felony counts of complicity to trafficking in drugs.
Mr. Doseck has been charged with one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a first-degree felony; and three fifth-degree felony counts of complicity to trafficking in drugs.
Charles Colvin, 52, of 520 E. Chillicothe Ave., also is believed to be associated with the ring, but he was indicted on a lone fifth-degree felony count of complicity to trafficking drugs.
The task force’s lengthy investigation into Mr. Hagans led to a Nov. 27 arrest in Springfield after a traffic stop conducted by the Springfield Narcotics Unit. Task force detectives joined their Springfield counterparts to search the suspect’s residence.
Crack cocaine, a loaded firearm, ammunition and various drug trafficking instruments, $2,400 and a sport utility vehicle were seized at the time.
He was arrested Jan. 17 after the task force served a search warrant at his residence.In a separate task force case, Martin A. Johnson, 42, of 733 N. Detroit St., has been charged with one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a first-degree felony; a third-degree felony count of possession of drugs; six fifth-degree felony counts of trafficking in drugs; and a fifth-degree felony count of possession drugs.
Crack cocaine, marijuana, a digital scale, cash and a loaded .40-caliber handgun also were seized in the raid.
Prosecutors are seeking forfeiture of the cash, SUV and weapons seized in the two cases.
