Heroin investigation leads to arrests

Heroin investigation leads to arrest two local men were arrested Thursday as part of a Logan County Joint Drug Task Force investigation into heroin trafficking.

Lewis Eric Snyder, 42, of 21143 N. U.S. Route 68, Belle Center, was charged with possession of heroin and trafficking in heroin after a 10 a.m. traffic stop at Brookstone Apartments, 500 Gunntown Road.

The driver, Robert Dickinson II, 34, was charged with possession of drug instruments and served with a warrant for failure to appear.

Task force detectives knew Mr. Dickinson was wanted on the warrant and approached the car after it stopped outside the apartment.

Mr. Snyder exited the car and walked toward the apartment, but was stopped before he could enter.

A hypodermic needle was found in the car. Several capsules of black tar heroin and $301 were found on Mr. Snyder.

The needle, heroin, cash and cellular phone were seized by detectives.

Both men were lodged in the Logan County Jail.

As recently as June, Mr. Snyder was sentenced to five years of probation after he pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and illegal use of supplemental benefits.

Mr. Dickinson was sentenced to two years of probation in 2009 after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property.

In May 2012, he was charged with possession of drug instruments after he was found with a hypodermic needle.
