Indoor Grow In Lima

On Wednesday morning, February 4, 2015, Ptl. Lybarger and Ptl. Warren of the Lima Police Department were driving in the 1400 block of W. High Street when they noticed the odor of raw marijuana. They were able to determine the odor was coming from 1418 W. High Street. Members of the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force were contacted and assisted the officers in obtaining a search warrant for the residence.

Upon execution of the search warrant, officers found the resident, 54-year-old Burton K. Goens II, hiding in the basement. A marijuana grow operation was found in a hidden room in the basement. The operation consisted of thirty (30) marijuana plants, florescent lights and miscellaneous gardening equipment. Mr. Goens was taken into custody and charged with suspicion of cultivating marijuana. Additional charges will likely be presented to a grand jury.

The approximate weight of the marijuana was 4.7 kilograms or about 10 pounds.

The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force is comprised of officers from the Lima Police Department, Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Van Wert Sheriff’s Office, Paulding Sheriff’s Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol.
