Lake County residents can drop off unwanted, expired medicines

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 30, Lake Health will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Residents can bring their medications for disposal to main lobby of TriPoint Medical Center, 7590 Auburn Road in Concord Township.

Needles, syringes, liquids and aerosols will be accepted in addition to other expired medications. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked, according to a press release.

Lake Health is taking part in this event in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency, Lake County Narcotics Agency and the Lake County General Health District,
Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet, according to the release.
