Lake Health to collect unwanted and expired prescription drugs

Lake Health, in partnership with the Lake County Narcotics Agency and the Lake County General Health District, will be giving the public an opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

On June 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., those interested can bring their medications for disposal to West Medical Center, 36000 Euclid Ave. in Willoughby; TriPoint Medical Center, 7590 Auburn Road in Concord Township; or Mentor Campus, 9485 Mentor Ave.

Needles, syringes, liquids and aerosols will be accepted in addition to other expired medications. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue, according to a Lake Health news release. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse.
