Lake Milton Man Indicted on Vehicular Homicide Charge

A 19-year-old Lake Milton man was indicted Thursday for fatally striking a bicyclist with his car with marijuana in his system.

Nathan Skaggs was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of drugs.

Skaggs has been free on a $50,000 bond after he was charged in May in Mahoning County Austintown Area Court.

Skaggs is accused of striking Derek Martin, 18, from behind at about 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17 while Martin was riding on Mahoning Avenue in front of the Milton Township Police Department.

State troopers said Skaggs had marijuana in his system at the time and arrested him at Jackson-Milton High School in May.
