Man arrested during drug operation

A Tiffin man was arrested and an undercover purchaser was assaulted during a drug operation Monday.

Kristopher B. Ward, 24, was charged with trafficking heroin and intimidation of a witness, both third-degree felonies, according to a release from Seneca County Drug Task Force - METRICH Enforcement Unit.

He was arrested during an operation in an alley between Melissa and Oil streets in Tiffin.
Seneca County Drug Task Force - METRICH Enforcement Unit agents and Tiffin Police Department officers had to intervene in the drug operation when Ward allegedly began assaulting the undercover operative, the release states.

Detective Chuck Boyer, unit coordinator of Seneca County Drug Task Force - METRICH Enforcement Unit, said the undercover purchaser sustained a cut to the face and was taken by law enforcement to Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital. The person was treated and released.

Boyer said Ward previously was convicted of an intimidation charge. Ward was taken to Seneca County Jail after Monday's operation.

Officers confiscated heroin, criminal tools and money during the operation, the release states.
