Man lodged on crack cocaine charges

Authorities seized a “significant amount” of crack cocaine Friday when they served a search warrant at 733 N. Detroit St., according to Bellefontaine Police Lt. Rick Herring.

The warrant was obtained by detectives assigned to the Logan County Joint Drug Task Force after several months investigating Martin A. Johnson, 42, of that address.He did not know the exact weight of drugs seized but made the characterization based on personal observations.

He was arrested on two counts of trafficking in crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine and having weapons under disability, a charge often levied against defendants with prior felony convictions.

Marijuana, a digital scale, cash and a loaded .40-caliber handgun were also seized in the raid.

The defendant was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
