NY man gets prison term for bringing drugs to Mahoning Valley

Judge Maureen Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court sentenced a Yonkers, N.Y., man to four years in prison on drug-trafficking charges.

Terrence Wilkerson, 38, was sentenced today for his role in bringing drugs to the Mahoning Valley along with George Wilkins, 40, of Struthers, who already did prison time for the murder of an organized crime figure in the 1990s.

Wilkins also has pleaded guilty for his role in the drug enterprise but has yet to be sentenced.

Wilkins was stopped by Struthers police in August at the request of the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force as part of a drug investigation.

When he was pulled over, police found three kilos of cocaine and a kilo and a half of heroin. He cooperated after his arrest and led police to Wilkerson, who was labeled a major supplier of drugs in the area.

Wilkins was one of three men sentenced for carrying out the June 3, 1996, slaying of 53-year-old Ernie Biondillo, who authorities said was involved in organized crime, as he was driving to work on the East Side.
