Police seize nearly 10K in marijuana from Ashland home

A 36-year-old Ashland man was arrested on multiple drug charges Tuesday morning after Ashland police and METRICH officers searched his home.

Kirk Bennett, 802 Cottage St., was charged with trafficking marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and possession of criminal tools, according to a news release by Ashland police. Some of the charges were enhanced because Bennett’s home is near a school, the release said.

During a search of Bennett’s Cottage Street home, police dog Fello helped find 2.7 pounds of marijuana hidden in the home, police said. The approximate street value for the drugs is $9,275.

Other evidence also was recovered, which included drug paraphernalia, evidence of drug trafficking and abuse and $797 in cash.
