Search warrant in Lima for marijuana

On Monday morning, March 9, 2015, Ptl. Link and Ptl. Boss of the Lima Police Department noticed the odor of raw marijuana while they were in the 1900 block of Allentown Road. They were able to determine the odor was coming from 1919 Allentown Road. Members of the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force were contacted and assisted the officers in obtaining a search warrant for the residence. The Allen County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team secured the residence. No one was home at the time.

A marijuana grow operation was found in the basement and a second marijuana grow operation was found on the second floor. The operation consisted of 29 marijuana plants, florescent lights and miscellaneous gardening equipment. The approximate weight of the marijuana was 3.6 kilograms or about 8 pounds.

Criminal charges will be presented to a grand jury at a later date.

The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force is comprised of officers from the Lima Police Department, Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Van Wert Sheriff’s Office, Paulding Sheriff’s Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol.
