Search warrants net drugs, cash and a firearm

The METRICH Enforcement Unit Wednesday assisted by ASORT, Ashland METRICH, Richland County Sheriff’s Office and the Mansfield Police Department served two early morning search warrants resulting in two arrests and seizure of drugs, cash and a firearm.

The first search warrant was served at 1124 Pawnee Ave., which is a residence. The second search warrant was served at 1081 Bowman St., which is a business. The target of the investigation, William R. Stamper, works at the business.

Detectives from the METRICH Enforcement Unit searched the residence at 1124 Pawnee Ave. and seized $1,495, and a loaded firearm, a Jennings .25 semi auto pistol. Detectives also seized approximately 25 grams of heroin with a street value of $3,000, 2 grams of cocaine, 3 syringes loaded with heroin, miscellaneous pills and drug paraphernalia.

Information originated from numerous citizen complaints of drug activity at the residence and the business, leading to the search warrants. The search warrants were drafted and signed by Mansfield Municipal Court Judge Jerry Ault.

Detectives from the METRICH Enforcement Unit searched the Bowman Tire Shop located at 1081 Bowman St. and seized drug paraphernalia and a quantity of heroin.

William R. Stamper, 48, was charged with possession of heroin, cocaine and having weapons while under disability.
