Second METRICH MARMET raid yields drugs, two arrests

Drug task force detectives are on a hot streak amid the cold of winter.

A second bust by the METRICH-MARMET Drug Task Force yielded nearly 2 ounces of crack cocaine, 2.3 grams of heroin and a pair of drug trafficking arrests in Marion.

The task force, assisted by the Marion Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, searched two apartments on Libby Lane Wednesday.

In addition to the illegal drugs, officers found seven prescription pills, Ecstasy and a stolen .357 revolver in their searches. At least $100 in cash was also found.

Brian Horton, 30, Marion, was arrested on charges of trafficking in heroin, possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine, aggravated possession of drug and on a warrant.

Darrin Potts, 26, Marion, was arrested on charges of trafficking in heroin and possession of heroin.

“This is another good example of great police work and community involvement,” Lt. Chris Adkins with the METRICH-MARMET Drug Task Force.

This was the second drug bust reported by the task force Wednesday. Officers arrested six believed to be in connection with a Chicago trafficking network.
