Shots fired, meth material found on Potts Hill Road

An argument Monday afternoon reportedly resulted in shots fired and the discovery of drug-related items, but no injuries.

Ross County Sheriff George Lavender said deputies were dispatched to the 6800 block of Potts Hill Road shortly after 4 p.m. Monday in response to a possible shooting. They located the man thought to be the victim and discovered he was not injured.

Deputies discovered a fight had broken out between two men at the Potts Hill Road residence and that the homeowner had fired two shots in the direction of the victim but missed him. Deputies also reported a chemical smell coming from a camper located on the property.

Detectives were called to the scene and were able to obtain a search warrant for the camper.

Detectives and members of the U.S. 23 Task Force searched the camper and reported finding materials consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine. The items were collected as evidence to be sent to a lab for testing.

Deputies arrested Christopher Witkugel, 33, and Rodney Combs, 43, both on charges of obstructing official business. Detectives are still investigating the incident and further charges are possible.
