Two sisters were arrested Monday morning after law enforcement executed a drug-related search warrant at their residence and discovered suspected marijuana, cocaine, heroin and illegally possessed prescription pills.
According to a release from the Seneca County Drug Task Force METRICH Enforcement Unit, the search was conducted at Riverbend Apartments, 204 E. Market St., apartment 242, the residence of Jennifer L. Murphy, 24, and Jillian N. Murphy, 22.
Along with suspected drugs, criminal tools, drug paraphernalia, money and suspected stolen property were seized, according to the release.
A Monday morning drug-related search warrant at a Tiffin apartment complex unveiled suspected drugs, money, drug paraphernalia, criminal tools and suspected stolen property.
Two children who were in the apartment at the time of the search were removed by Children Services due to an unsafe environment from the condition of the apartment and because of the presence of drugs, the release stated.
METRICH Unit Coordinator Chuck Boyer said one child was an infant and the other was a toddler.
Boyer said the drug unit had been investigating the sisters and their alleged role in the sale of drugs for about six months.
“We will continue to enforce and investigate any and all drug use, sales and criminal activity reported in our city and surrounding communities,” said Tiffin Police Chief Fred Stevens in the release. “Upon entering the apartment pursuant to the search warrant, it was evident that the complaints were accurate as officers located an assortment of illicit drugs.”
According to the release, Jennifer Murphy faces charges of possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, child endangerment, a first-degree misdemeanor, and possession of prescription pills, a fifth-degree felony. Jillian Murphy is charged with possession of cocaine and trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony. Additional charges of trafficking in heroin, possession of marijuana and possession of criminal tools are pending upon further investigation.
