Task Force Seizes 5 Kilograms Of Meth From Chicago

A drug task force arrested a Chicago man Sunday after officers say they found about five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

Investigators with the Miami Valley Bulk Cash Smuggling Task Force say they arrested Rene Nevarez-Reyes, 22, following the traffic stop in Montgomery County.

The meth has a value of nearly $250,000, the task force reports.
Attorney General DeWine said the task force was acting on intelligence it received indicating the meth was on its way from Chicago to Dayton.

“This is the second time in two weeks that members of this task force have taken a large amount of crystal meth off the streets of Montgomery County,” said Sheriff Phil Plummer. “I believe our message is clear, and our unified efforts with federal, state and local law enforcement are working.”

Nevarez-Reyes is being held in the Montgomery County Jail.

The task force is made up of Montgomery and Miami county agencies as well as the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
