The Brown County Task Force made a pair of raids on September 25

Law enforcement officers in Brown County were hard at work on Friday, September 25.

The Brown County Drug Task Force conducted two major raids on September 25, one on a property on Mt. Aire Rd. in Red Oak, and another at the Forest Glade Apartments on Airport Rd., just outside of Georgetown. In those two raids, the task force arrested seven individuals on a host of drug offenses, including trafficking and possession of illegal drugs.

Those arrested include Michael and Sherri Flaugher, Tammara Bell, Brenda Goodman, Brandi McCarty, Aime Meyer, and Joshua McIntosh.

The two raids were part of a massive batch of indictments from the Brown County Grand Jury, handed down to 29 individuals, and more charges could be coming to some of the indicted as well.

In the first raid, after acquiring a search warrant, multiple law enforcement vehicles from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Georgetown Police Department, Mt. Orab Police Department, and plain clothes police officers swarmed onto the front lawn in front of Michael Flaugher’s double-wide mobile home.

Both Michael Flaugher and another female were quickly apprehended, and the task force officers began to search Flaugher’s home for contraband and other illegal materials. According to Local 12, the task force found 41 shotguns and rifles, 15 handguns, thousands of dollars in cash, prescription pills, and marijuana, all of which was confiscated.

Flaugher was indicted on two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony, and one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony.

In the second raid, law enforcement officers arrested Sherri Flaugher, Bell, Goodman, McCarty, Meyer, and McIntosh from their apartments on Airport Rd.

Sherri Flaugher was indicted on one count of permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony.

Bell was indicted on two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, one a third-degree felony and the other a fourth-degree felony.

Goodman was indicted on one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony.

McCarty was indicted on three counts of trafficking in heroin, with two of the counts a felony of the fourth degree and one count a felony of the third degree.

Meyer was indicted on one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a third-degree felony, one count of possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony, one count of possession of drugs, a first-degree misdemeanor, and one count of possessing drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Lastly, McIntosh was indicted on one count of trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony.

The seven arrested on September 25 remain in the Brown County Adult Detention Center as of press time. They have yet to be arraigned.

All told, roughly 18 of the 29 individuals indicted on September 25 came as a result of work by the Brown County Task Force, according to the Brown County Prosecutor’s office.

Also indicted were:

Joel E. Apodaca, 51, of Georgetown, on two counts of trafficking in marijuana, both fourth-degree felonies, and one count of trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

Thomas Lee Bruton, 43, of Ripley, on two counts of trafficking in drugs, both fourth-degree felonies, and one count of trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

Katricia Maria Davis, 23, of Mt. Orab, on three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, all third-degree felonies.

Maribeth Denny, 38, of Georgetown, on one count of permitting drug abuse, a third-degree felony. According to court documents, instead of reading the indictment, Denny withdrew her plea of not guilty and pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter, a third-degree felony, which she had been charged with through a bill of information from Brown County Prosecutor Jessica Little. Denny faces a maximum of three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Denny has a sentencing hearing scheduled for October 26.

Kelly William Fritz, 34, of Williamsburg, on one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony, two counts of trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony, and one count of trafficking in heroin, a fifth-degree felony.

Taylor Fryman, 22, of Aberdeen, on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony, and one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a third-degree felony.

Donald Thomas Hill, 28, of West Union, on one count of trafficking in heroin, a third-degree felony, and one count of possession of heroin, a fourth-degree felony.

Rebecca A. Knisley, 25, of Ripley, on two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse, or a combination of them, a first-degree misdemeanor, and one count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony.

Brenda G. Krimmer, 44, of Mt. Orab, on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony, one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony, and one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a third-degree felony. All three counts come with specification for forfeiture of an automobile.

Ashley N. McCullough, 29, of Hamersville, on two counts of trafficking in drugs, both fourth-degree felonies.

Tommy D. Richmond, 29, of Aberdeen, on one count of possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Anthony C. Ritchie Jr., of Georgetown, on one count of grand theft when the property is a firearm or dangerous ordnance, a third-degree felony, one count of having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony, one count of illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon, a fifth-degree felony, one count of possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of possessing drug abuse instruments, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Mark Andrew Shank Jr., 26, of Mt. Orab, on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony, one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony, and one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a third-degree felony.

Serena V. Sherman, 60, of Georgetown, on one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony.

Anthony Sicker, 32, of Georgetown, on three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, all fourth-degree felonies.

Michael Tyler Simington, 20, of Hamersville, on one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony, and one count of sexual imposition, a third-degree misdemeanor.

Christopher Adam Smith, 26, on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony, one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony, and one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a third-degree felony.

Margaret M. Smith, 32, of Georgetown, on one count of trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony.

Heather J. Spiller, 33, of Georgetown, on three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, all fourth-degree felonies.

Garry W. Turner, 44, of Mt. Orab, on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony, one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony, and one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a third-degree felony. Turner was previously convicted of manufacture of methamphetamine in Polk County, Tennessee.

According to court documents, Turner waived arraignment and pleaded guilty to one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, a second-degree felony. Turner was sentenced on September 28 to seven years in the Ohio Department of Corrections, with the first five years mandatory. He was also fined $7,500 and had his drivers license suspended for 12 months. Turner’s post-release control will be a mandatory five years.

Joseph Yazell, 24, of Ripley, on one count of possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of possessing drug abuse instruments, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Amanda Ellen Yockey, 27, of Georgetown, on one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony, and one count of permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony.
