Two jailed after METRICH seizes heroin

Two men were arrested after the METRICH drug enforcement unit searched 44 S. Brookwood Way in Mansfield around 6:30 p.m. Friday, seizing suspected heroin and instruments believed to have been used in drug trafficking.

Delvonte Williams, 19, of 44 S. Brookwood Way, faces charges of two counts of trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of possession of drugs, a third-degree felony. Malique Schad, 20, of the same address, was charged with six counts of trafficking in drugs, a fifth-degree felony

Both were incarcerated at the Richland County Jail on Friday night, pending a court appearance.

METRICH officials said numerous controlled buys involving the suspects were made prior to the arrests.

One of the suspects was at the residence when METRICH began the search, and the other pulled up in a vehicle within minutes of the raid.

The investigation was the result of numerous complaints about drug trafficking in the neighborhood, said METRICH Supervisor Sgt. Stephen F. Blust, who added METRICH will continue to target drug dealers in the community.
