Youngstown man charged in connection with fatal overdose

An alleged drug dealer is accused of providing the heroin that claimed the life of a Youngstown man.

The Mahoning County Grand Jury handed up an eight count secret indictment against 22-year-old Marquis Huffman of Youngstown last week.

Prosecutors say Huffman supplied heroin to 56-year-old George R. Taylor, who died of an overdose on May 2.

Huffman was arrested on Wednesday and remains in the Mahoning County jail awaiting arraignment.

Huffman was arrested in Youngstown by the US Marshall’s Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force on outstanding warrants which stemmed from investigations conducted by the Mahoning Valley Drug Task Force.

In addition to the charge of involuntary manslaughter, Huffman is also charged with heroin trafficking, possessing criminal tools, permitting drug abuse and identity fraud.
