Police find drugs in one home, meth lab in another

Two locations were searched Friday by the county Drug Task Force, including a meth lab on East Liverpool Road and a home in the East End of the city.

Armed with a search warrant and a battering ram, the task force and city police officers converged on the house at 1560 Pennsylvania Ave. at about 10:30 a.m.

Inside, they reported finding occupants Jesub Carter and Jessica Tremain as well as a small amount of suspected heroin and cocaine, drug paraphernalia, cell phones and green dot cards.

The sheriff's department K-9 team of Allan Young and Jesy were also involved in executing the search warrant, which was the result of a three-month-long investigation into heroin trafficking.

Although no arrests were made, task force Director Brian McLaughlin said arrests are pending as the investigation continues.

City police said the Pennsylvania Avenue home is a rental and, according to the county auditor's web site, it is owned by Tammy Frank.

Assisted by the sheriff's office and West Point Fire Department, the task force located a methamphetamine operation at 13870 East Liverpool Road in Madison Township where several "one pot" labs were located in the garage and around the property.

Digital scales and chemicals used to manufacture meth were also found, according to task force officials, who said charges are also pending in this case.

The county auditor's records show the property includes a one-story home and is owned by Janet L. Gibson.

Charges remain pending following continued investigation.
