Two men sentenced in overdose death of Boardman teen

Two Mahoning Valley men are doing some hard time for a couple of involuntary manslaughter convictions.

22 year old Ruben Best of Warren and 26 year old Gary Hartman of Boardman were sentenced Tuesday to four and a half years each in a state prison facility. The two were convicted in connection with the drug overdose death of 18-year-old Erin Trell of Boardman just over two years ago.

As part of a plea deal approved in May, Best and Hartman changed their pleas from not guilty to guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

According to court documents, the duo could have spent 16 years in prison on the original charges.
