8-Year-Old Removed from Stow Meth Lab

A welfare check by police unveiled a working methamphetamine lab in the basement of a Stow home Thursday afternoon.

Stow police say officers were called to a house on Burton Drive to check on two people who were believed to be using drugs.

After the homeowner allowed officers to check the house, they found Sarah Bimshas, 26, and Joseph Papp, 34, hiding in the basement; both were in the process of cooking meth.

Investigators also discovered other chemical components, lab waste and equipment used in the manufacturing of meth.

Bimshas’ 8-year-old child was removed from the home and placed into the custody of Children’s Services.

Both Bimshas and Papp were arrested and charged with felony illegal manufacturing of drugs and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.

They’re being held in the Summit County Jail.
