Cocaine and Methamphetamine in Defiance County

Officers of the MAN Unit concluded an 11 month investigation of persons distributing Cocaine and Methamphetamine in Defiance County and surrounding counties.

Arrested were:

Juan Montez, Jr., 22 years, 236 Corwin Street, Defiance, Ohio for one count of Possession of Cocaine, over 27 grams, but less than 100 grams, a Felony of the First Degree.  Montez was found in possession of approximately 56 grams of Cocaine.

Valentino Ray Urbina, 33 years, 1024 Charles Street, Defiance Ohio for one count of Possession of Cocaine, over 100 grams, a Felony of the First Degree.  Urbina was found in possession of approximately 506 grams of Cocaine.

Theodore L. Berner, 51 years, 1411 Jackson Street, Defiance, Ohio was arrested for Possession of Cocaine a Felony of the Fifth Degree; two counts of Aggravated Possession of Drugs each a Felony of the Fifth Degree; Tampering with Evidence and Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle.  Authorities allege that during a traffic stop on October 17, 2017, Berner was found in possession of Cocaine, Hydrocodone and Methamphetamine.  A loaded firearm was also located in the vehicle.  Authorities allege that Berner tampered with evidence by destroying evidence located on his cell phone.  Berner was also involved in the incident on November 11, 2017, and was found in possession of approximately 84 grams of Cocaine which constitutes a Felony of the First Degree.

Rodolfo Jesus Garay, 35 years, 3132 Norwalk Avenue, Dallas, Texas, for one count of Possession of Cocaine over 100 grams, a Felony of the First Degree.  Authorities allege that Garay delivered approximately 32 ounces (896 Grams) of Cocaine to a residence in Defiance County.

A search warrant was also executed in Defiance in conjunction with the investigation.  Approximately one-half pound of Marijuana was recovered as well as a large amount of cash.  The investigation is continuing with additional charges anticipated on all of the above individuals.  Additional cash as well as three vehicles were also seized. Assisting was the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, Defiance City Police Department and The Defiance County Prosecutor’s Office.
