Columbus man charged with manslaughter for overdose death

A man has been charged with manslaughter after the overdose death of a Grandview Heights man.

Grandview Heights Police charged Cory McDowell with manslaughter, along with five other counts, including aggravated drug trafficking, in the death of Ronald Ireson.

Investigators say Ireson suffered a suspected opiate overdose that included the use of fentanyl on January 7, 2017. He died several days later on January 13th.

Police say after an investigation, they searched McDowell's home in east Columbus and found evidence of the possession of fentanyl and drug trafficking.

Police say they were helped in the investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and members of the Heroin Overdose Prevention and Education Task Force.
