Deputies seize 500 pounds of marijuana, 95 plants, 43 cats in Franklin Co. home

Franklin County deputies seized nearly 100 marijuana plants, along with 500 pounds of processed marijuana and dozens of cats from a Prairie Township home last week.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, on September 11, deputies were working a separate call in Prairie Township when they noticed a strong aroma of marijuana coming from the yard of a neighboring house on Buena Vista Avenue.

Deputies say when they investigated the property, they found a large number of tall marijuana plants being camouflaged by sunflowers in the backyard.

A search warrant was executed on the home and deputies recovered approximately 500 pounds of processed marijuana, worth about $600,000, 95 marijuana plants, and 43 cats.

A male occupant of the home, Greg Grossholz, 59, was charged with felony Manufacture of Drugs or Cultivation of Marijuana.

The cats were turned over to family members who arrived on the scene.

Deputies continue to investigate.
