Take two: Wooster couple arrested for second time on drug charges

A suspected drug dealer and his girlfriend were nabbed by authorities Thursday night at their apartment on Old Mansfield Road after a search warrant was executed.

Angel Perry, 28, and Dalisha Merriweather, 25, both of 1699 Old Mansfield Road, Apt. 2, were arrested and charged in Wayne County Municipal Court with two counts of trafficking in drugs. Both recently have Wooster addresses, but Perry has previously lived at various Akron residences.

Perry was still in jail Wednesday on a $50,000 or 10 percent cash bond; Merriweather was in on a $10,000 or 10 percent bond, according to court records.

Don Hall, senior Medway Drug Enforcement Agency agent, said the warrant was executed at their apartment, one of multiple residences at an old farm house on the western edge of Wooster, at about 7:30 p.m. as part of an ongoing investigation.

"During the execution of the search warrant, we located a large amount of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia indicative of trafficking and a large amount of cash," Hall said. The couple allegedly had a couple thousand dollars.

Both were arrested without incident during the operation, which included Medway, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Wooster Police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Hall said the couple has been around the area some time now and was arrested during a "no-knock" warrant in Orrville in 2010.

Most recently, they were arrested July 29 when a search warrant was executed at the apartment on the 300 block of North Grant Street in Wooster. At that time, law enforcement found them in possession of suspected cocaine, heroin, prescription pills and some handguns despite being under disability.

No charges were filed in that instance, and they were released from jail.

Wayne County Prosecutor Dan Lutz declined to comment on why they were released in July.

At that time, Perry was out on bond from a June 26 incident on West Vine Street -- he allegedly broke into a residence and held a man against his will using a 9mm handgun -- in which "drugs may (have been) involved."
