Local authorities assist in Springfield drug bust

Local authorities released Thursday information regarding the arrest of a Springfield man who they believe is a significant source of crack cocaine flowing into Logan County.

Marcus A. Hagans, 26, of 1628 Edwards Ave., was arrested Nov. 27 after the Springfield Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop in Springfield.

Mr. Hagans, known as BeBe, was under investigation by the Logan County Joint Drug Task Force for trafficking a large amount of crack cocaine in Logan County.

Task force detectives had obtained trafficking warrants for the suspect and the detectives worked with their counterparts in Springfield.

Together, the Springfield and local detectives executed a search warrant of the suspect’s residence.

Seized from the residence were crack cocaine, a loaded firearm, ammunition and various drug trafficking instruments.

He was lodged in the Clark County Jail on first-degree felonies for possession of crack cocaine, trafficking crack cocaine and two fifth-degree felony counts of trafficking crack cocaine. Additional charges are possible.

At the time of the traffic stop, the suspect was in possession of $2,400 which was seized along with his 2007 Chevy Tahoe.
